The section expands its backup software to cover multiple cloud databases and cloud services Oracle, according to Techtarget. The company shared these updates during the annual event Rubrik Forward, which took place online.
In the coming months, the Rubrik platform will support managed relational databases such as AWS RDS and Microsoft Azure SQL. It also plans to add coverage for MySQL, AWS Aurora, Oracle and other engines in a row. The plan also includes protection for non -monitoring databases such as Dynamodb AWS and Azure Cosmos DB.
The introduction also includes new tools adapted to Oracle Cloud. This includes protection of Oracle Cloud databases and Oracle Cloud VMware. The company said it will also add support for an orchestra on virtual machines Azure.
While the section is mostly known for backup and recovery, society is more hard to load into cyber security. This shift has been reflected in several key notes and sessions of the event.
CEO and co-founder Bipul Sinha said that recovery is not only the last center-is the main part of modern security. He warned that many organizations were already hiding in their systems and waiting for a strike. Pure recovery points, he said, offer one of the few reliable ways to bounce off these threats.
“Every leader must influence the insurer that the attackers will eventually find the way,” Sinha said.
Christ Case, analyst of the Futurum Group, said that more organizations are beginning to understand that backup and security go hand in hand. Once multiple data moves into the cloud, the risks multiply – and the lines between the backup and the security thinner.
“It’s far beyond the matter of simple data backup,” Case said. “The point is to avoid sufficient copies to avoid data loss, verifying the renewability of these copies and recovering as quickly as possible to facilitate the continuity of business.”
The case also pointed out that relational databases, such as those that now support, are often the main goals for attackers. These systems store sensitive information – medical records, customer data and financial data. And because they run on standard languages such as SQL, bad actors know how to get.
“The relational databases can be the goal of a high value,” she said. “They are highlighted through standardized questions such as SQL, which means that attackers can – and do – use it.”
The non -allocation database faces other risks, including poor configuration, weak encryption and users with greater access than needed. Diploma thesis from creating multiple ways for attack attacks.
The section is not the only supplier focused on cloud data protection. Detuva has recently added a backup for Azure SQL and Azure Blob. Commvault and addede that it will soon protect virtual machines to virtualize the Red Hat OpenShift.
Cyber security was a recurring topic at the section virtual conference, which contained several sessions focused on defense strategies. Among the speakers were Ron Ross, trained with Nist and Rob Joyce to train the director of cyber security at the NSA.
They both said that the right of foundations is still a long way. Maintaining the software fix, tracking devices and control of who has access can stop many attacks before starting. Joyce also emphasized the need to prepare for inputs by default.
The attackers are often inside the moon’s systems before starting any damage, he said. By using stolen login data, they can mix with normal activity and quietly build back behind the scenes.
“The attackers will know your network better than people who own and run it,” Joyce said. “When you are against (the People’s Republic of China), it is quite a depressing challenge.”
Ross said that companies need a plan before the catastrophe strikes. He designed from there from the most critical systems and building.
“You treat the wounds on the chest in front of Hangnailles,” Ross said.
He and Joyce agreed that public and private coordination, along with a clear federal leadership, would help increase the slat with a national cyber emphasis. But even if external support is missing, every organization should still focus on planning and preparation.
“Have a plan and sweatshirt details,” Joyce said. “Downtime is unacceptable. It is an existential threat.”
